In order to protect the wildlife habitats at Grayton Beach State Park, foot traffic has been prohibited in the dunes and in nesting areas. Despite this regulation, wildlife is plentiful at this park, and there are many opportunities for photographing or simply observing the birds and other animals. A campground and cabins are available for those who wish to extend their stay.

During World War II, this park was used as a bombing practice site, and the remnants of a concrete dummy-bomb can be seen on the property.
